Review, Release and Revive
Here we are again, on the precipice of a new year! This feels like another year of big change as we leave the Piscean age into the age of Aquarius. What an interesting time in history to be alive. I became fascinated with astrology over a decade ago when I observed that my emotions ran high each month during the full moon. I certainly am not an astrology expert, but I have noticed how the planetary shifts align with our personal and collective trajectories, whether we are aware of it or not. After all, if we are interconnected with one another and the Universe, of course we are affected as individuals and as humanity by something as large as the solar system, its planets and inhabitants.
As the astrological shifts propel us forward, it’s not always comfortable. I’ve always said we evolve the most when we are uncomfortable. Life can be like a fire walk in which we rise from the ashes like a Phoenix. The more we surrender into the experience of our emotions, the easier we navigate the changes. This does not mean to put our heads in the sand or acquiesce when there is injustice and worse. It means getting real with how we feel so we can heal. That starts within each of us and ripples out through our example, words, actions and being. When we are connected and live from the heart, we are intuitively guided by the wisdom of our higher self with a knowing of what to do in each moment and how to live.
The end of the year is a powerful time to reflect on past efforts, accomplishments, lessons and growth. I recently had a dark night of the soul, feeling as if I was not making the difference I know I am here to make. I made a list of my efforts and accomplishments over the past year, which was more than I had previously realized. This reminded me to appreciate myself and to rest in the valley before I climb the next mountain. During this cocooning period I have relaxed and released a lot and am beginning to gain new insight and inspiration for 2024. It was a metaphorical death in which I had to let go of expectations, outcomes and resistance to make space for an expansion of service to be birthed through me.
I use this as an example because it’s the first time I ever sat down to make that list (which involved personal, family and professional growth and accomplishments) and it was very helpful. The year in review, at great depth, is something I’ll continue doing every year and highly recommend this exercise.
It’s also important to release whatever does not serve us to clear the slate to move forward in the new year. This can include getting rid of belongings you no longer need or use; removing yourself from toxic relationships and situations; eliminating patterns and habits that are counterproductive or destructive; reframing beliefs to be positive and life affirming; doing the inner-work to heal emotional wounds and release baggage; and more.
As we release the density, space is created within ourselves and our lives to bring forth more of what we desire. We create our realities through our thoughts, beliefs, habits, patterns and actions so it’s important to use awareness to connect with our heart’s desires and to take inspired actions. As we get into alignment with our higher self and the life we are meant to live, the Universe brings us what we most need for that fulfillment. Keep in mind, it often arrives looking different than we imagined but is usually what we most need for healing, growth and expansion. As we reconnect with our true needs and desires, refocus and move forward, we revive and thrive.
Welcome to the new year and new age! May we work together through our unique talents, gifts, expressions and beingness to evolve within ourselves and collectively. We’ve got a ways to go, but we were made for this time. Heal yourself, uplift others, and let’s light up the world! Wishing you peace, love and abundance in 2024 and always.
